Harumi Takahashi (高橋 はるみ Takahashi Harumi , born January 6, 1954) is the present governor of the Japanese prefecture of Hokkaidō. She graduated from Hitotsubashi University in 1976. She started her career as a bureaucrat in Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (now Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and quit in 2003. She was elected in April 2003, becoming the first female governor of Hokkaidō and the fourth female governor in Japanese history. Her grandfather is Takekuni Takatsuji, the Ex-governor of the prefecture of Toyama.
